The pedal steel isn’t an instrument that you see very much of in this day and age, but Robert Randolph’s talented performances on the instrument blow me away every time. Each and every member of the band is incredibly talented, and their fusion of instruments creates an original soul funk sound that simply begs to be danced to. As well as being greatly skilled instrumentalists, the band are incredible performers. Watching Robert sit behind his pedal steel and jam along bobbing his head to the funky music is a great way or energising the audience, because when you see them loving it, you can’t help but let that enthusiasm be contagious.

The calibre of talent was so high, I’ll 100% be seeing them live again. I thought the sound was pretty lame; it seemed like the band were all struggling to hear themselves and each other, as many of the band members kept signaling to the sound engineer to turn something up in their monitors. At one point, during a song and a moment in which he was actually playing, Robert walked away from his guitar to go backstage to talk to the sound engineer and IMO he seemed pretty annoyed about it. Overall the performance was lackluster and was missing the energy and tightness that I've seen RRFB display in the many videos I've seen of some of their previous live performances. I'll certainly be going to their next show near me, but I hope it's not at the Fillmore.
