I believe iphone/ipods have drm protection that keeps you from downloading content on them onto other devices beyond the computer that they are sync'd to itunes on. You should be able to copy your music from the itunes music folder (if it is MP3 format) and copy it to a usb key or external hard drive and upload it that way.
